Course Overview
The Hunter LEAP Firearms Qualification Course — Firearms and Hunting Safety (Long-arms) — is approved by the NSW Police Force Firearms Registry. Completing this course is a mandatory legal requirement before you can apply for a Category A or B firearms licence in NSW. Upon successful completion you will receive your Firearms Safety Course Certificate, ready to submit with your application to the NSW Police Firearms Registry.
Delivered by an accredited Hunter LEAP Firearms Safety Instructor (FST Instructor No. 413047819), the course covers all theory required under the NSW Firearms Act 1996 and Firearms Regulation 2017 — from safe handling and storage to laws, ammunition, and field safety. Categories A and B long arms only. There is no live-fire range component.
Class sizes are kept deliberately small so every participant receives the attention they deserve. No prior firearms experience is necessary — all experience levels are welcome.
